Zingy-zangy and snacky! This recipe caught my eye because of the combination of Italian dressing and BBQ sauce used to slow cook the chicken. Easier than easy and a flavor that will have you asking for more.
Just mix together the sauces and some brown sugar then place boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of your crock pot. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, flip that switch on the crock pot and walk away. Shredding the chicken for the sandwiches doesn’t even seem to be a big task because the meat is so tender it almost shreds itself.
I often order off Olive Garden’s catering menu for Realtor classes that I hold in my office. It always includes a huge bowl of their famous salad. I happen to love the flavor of their Italian dressing so I used it for this recipe along with a cheap off brand bottle of BBQ sauce. Whatever your favorite brands, this recipe will be a crowd pleaser at your table.
The slices of Zesty Bread and Butter Pickles on top of the sandwich makes for a lovely show, but don’t forget to add them into the sandwich. The crunch and their lively flavor made for a bite of excitement. And with a couple of Hot Pickled Okra, we were on flavor overload.
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 16 ounces BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- Mix together BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, and brown sugar. Place chicken in the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour sauce mixture on top. Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Shred the chicken and serve on slider buns with some zesty Bread and Butter pickles.
